This temple is more than 500 years old. The Kalari guru family of the old Ettuveettil Tharavaad is managing this temple.
I would say that this is a must see hindu temple of Chamundi Devi in Kerala.
The Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple is filled with colorful idols , paintings , scriptures of Gods and many statues stand around the temple preimses like they are alive.
Big idols and statues of Chamundeshwari Amma is placed allover the area in different avatars.
In Kerala there are 2 famous Chamundi Devi temples situated at Karikkakam and Thozhuvancode.
A book that tells the story and history of Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi is available inside the temple for Rs.50.
Another attraction is statue of woman police officers at the entrance and exit of the temple.
Tourists who are on Pilgrimage tour should not miss the opportunity to visit this great temple.
This is a beautiful temple and there are not much details available in Internet about this religious place. This could be because photographs and videos of this temple are not allowed to be taken.
So i am not able to take any pictures of this must see Hindu pilgrimage destination in Kerala. The only photos i have with me is that , which were available from a magazine issued from the temple.
Kozhi Nercha
Main Vazhipads at Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple are Pattu and Kozhi Nercha. The Poovan Kozhi / Roosters / Male Hens are available inside the temple.
You should take a receipt of Rs.200 from the counter and you will get a Hen. You should take it to the temple Nada and there the Priest will pour water over its head.
If the Hen shakes its head , it means that Chamundi Devi is pleased with your offering of Kozhi. This vazhipad is done as a sign of your gratitude and thankfullness to the Chamundi Devi.

Many people are asking the question "How to Reach Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple"
I have visited this temple and believes that this is the most beautiful temple in Kerala and will be glad to certify and assure everyone that this is the best temple in the whole South India which is not known to many people.
I have myself visited this temple and i will say the easiest route to this temple from Sasthamangalam.
Once you reach Sathamangalam junction , go to the road that leads to Maruthankuzhi Junction.
From here there is no need to get into small side routes. Just go through the main road.
After Maruthankuzhi Junction you will reach the Kachani Road. From there when you continue moving , you can see an Indian Oil Petrol Pump on the right side.
And on moving forward on the route , you can see a Government UP School on left side.
Now you will reach the Kanjirampara junction. Continue your ride and look on the left side of the road , you will see a small by-road leading to the Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple.
There will be a board showing the sign and you will have to travel a half a kilometer this road to reach the destination.

Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple at Trivandrum is not open on all days. There are many specialities for this temple which makes it unique.
Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple is open only on Sunday , Tuesday, Friday.
Working hours or opening hours of this temple is from ,
Morning 5:30 am to 12:30 pm
Evening 4:30 pmĀ to 7:45 pm
Also the Nada or entrance of this temple is not closed on day times.
Hindus , Muslims , Christians or any religion people can come to this temple without any fear and get blessing from the Chamundi Devi.
No Dakshna , Donation Collection at Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple
Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple is unique from all temples in India.
Most of the temple priests collect dakshina or small donations while giving the Prasadam / Holy items to devotees.
From past 41 years there is no kind of such donation or dakshina collection at this temple. So there is no special priority to anyone.
But , at Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple there is no Dakshna or Donation Collection allowed. The priests do not take any Dakshina from devotees. Also during the festivals no type of donation collection or (Raseethu Pirivu) from the temple committee.
This is the main speciality of the Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple.
Presence of Brahma Vishnu Maheshwaran Holy Trinity at Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple
This temple is special from others with the presence of Three Supreme Hindu Gods like Brahma - Vishnu - Maheshwaran during the Prathishta ceremony (starting) of this temple.
Even now there is blessings and presence of these 3 gods at this place and so it is the only Temple in India which has the presence of all these 3 gods who are known as Thrimoorthikal or Holy Trinity.

Thozhuvancode - 2011 Pongala Festival at Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple
In 2011 the Festival and Pooram will be held from January 13th to 23rd at Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple.
Pongala Festival in Thozhuvancode Sree Chamundi Devi Temple will be from morning 5.00 am on 23rd January 2011. Pongala Nivedanam or blessing with holy water is done according to the finishing of Pongala by the women.
There is no particular time for blessing. Women can start giving Pongala at the temple premises from morning 5 am itself and receive the holy water / Nivedikkal on immediate completion of the Pongala. This is a main speciality of this temple and this helps in reducing the crowds.
Men will not be allowed to enter the Pongala area from morning 7.00 am to 11.30 am on 23rd January 2011.
Video cameras , Mobile phones , Cameras will not be allowed and No pictures or videos are Not allowed to be taken from this temple at any time.
